The Gay Liberation Front Foundation:
Our Mission, Our Values, Our Vision.

  • The GLF Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the purpose of providing resources and educational materials on the cultural context, sociopolitical relevancy, and historic centrality of GLF and documenting the contributions and legacy of the organization to LGBTQIA+ history. To that end, the GLF Foundation will maintain a dedicated website to serve as a central resource for oral history, photographic and video documentation, as well as providing a speaker’s bureau. We will further document the historic contributions of the membership to the LGBTQIA+ community, with the site serving as a central respository of resources, from publications by the members as well as links to other sources that provide an accurate representation of our history.

  • The GLF Foundation advocates an intersectional approach to understanding the history of GLF and the LGBTQIA+ movement. This means recognizing the many forms of oppression that led up to Stonewall and the many voices that contributed to the work of GLF. GLF understood that fighting one form of oppression meant fighting all forms of oppression—racism, sexism, male and white supremacy, homophobia and transphobia among others. The GLF Foundation is guided by this enduring set of principles.

  • The historical record can be fragile and subject to reinterpretations and misinterpretations. Therefore, original members of GLF have established the Gay Liberation Front Foundation (GLF Foundation) to safeguard its legacy and promote the values that produced a modern political movement that changed the consciousness of everyone it touched.
